This site is built with Astro and published from a public GitHub repository via GitHub Pages. No trackers, no cookies, no popups.

The type is Atkinson Hyperlegible, designed by the Braille Institute for maximum legibility. It was built on the belief that reading should be easy for everyone, which is also what the writing here aims for.

The accent color is Falu red, made from the tailings of a copper mine at Falun in Sweden. Iron oxide kills the fungus that rots wood, so it became the cheap way to keep a barn standing. New England barns are red because settlers brought the practice with them. A good technique crossed an ocean and stayed useful. Most of what I write about here is some version of that.

The design intends to be calm and a little imperfect: no shadows, almost no motion, revision dates shown honestly, and open questions published before they're answered. If a page feels unfinished, that's because it is.
