European Energy Dashboard
· still forming
Europe has moved through its green transition faster than the US has, and there is a lot to learn from how it did that. It is also not energy independent. Russian gas is down to roughly 13 percent of EU imports from about 45 percent before 2022, and a stepwise ban now runs through 2027, but the replacement runs through other people’s supply chains: LNG shipping, Chinese-made solar and battery cells, grid equipment with multi-year lead times.
I want to see where the bottlenecks are, what generation opportunities exist, and where I would site new capacity if I were a policy planner trying to make the network more resilient.
